This is Juan Angelo Vargas Fajardo, graduate of the class of 2014, who will become a mechanical engineer at the end of this month. In addition, he has a cumulative average of 4.7 out of 5, an aspect that leaves him very well positioned to win the Manuel Ponce de León Distinction, an award for the best engineering average of the year, if it is equal to or higher than 4.6. In 153 years of history, the National University (UN) has only awarded this prize to 63 people.

Juan Angelo's achievements are a source of pride for him, his family and, of course, his school, however, the success of our 2014 Alumni is perfectly consistent with his high performances in sports, academics and culture during his time at Gimnasio de Los Cerros and UN.

Another aspect that predicted Juan Angelo's high performance was his international experience in Germany during 2018. He perfected his German for two months in the city of Cologne (Kölm) and then spent a semester studying at the Technische Universität München, where he had the opportunity to see class with an astronaut.

Then he got an internship at MAHLE Behr, Stuttgart, in the area of pre-development of internal cooling systems and worked there six months. In addition, he used his time in 'the old continent' to get to know most of Europe.

Currently, Juan Angelo works at Process, Solutions and Equipment, a company that mainly manufactures equipment for the pharmaceutical and food industries, as well as laboratory equipment for universities.

Warm congratulations to Juan Angelo for his Honorary Degree that he will receive in a few days from the National University of Colombia. His effort, dedication and enthusiasm throughout these years are beginning to bear fruit.
