We attended the V version of the National Academic Contest of Economics, school version, organized by the Universidad del Rosario at the Jockey Club (next to the gold museum).

Our team was composed of eleventh grade students Juan Pablo Pino, Erick Sayes, Oscar Gonzalez and Juan David Mesa. We participated along with 16 schools where students were evaluated on general knowledge of social sciences such as history, geography and political organization, mathematical and logical skills and knowledge of economics and behavior of individuals and societies.

Our performance in the National Academic Economics Contest

We remained in the top 5 of this National Academic Economics Competition during the first 2 rounds, which consisted of multiple choice questions with 2 minutes to deliberate and answer. The final round consisted of 2 discussion questions, for which they had 2 minutes to prepare their intervention against the other 4 ranked schools.

These were economic discussion questions with topics such as the effect of the development of artificial intelligence in the Colombian economy and the effectiveness of our tax statute for the economic development of the country. In this round a three-way tie was reached, which was defined with a final discussion question regarding the viability of dollarizing the Colombian economy.

Our students stood out for their communication and argumentative skills and for their specific knowledge of applied economic theory in the National Academic Economics Competition.

The final result was third place for our team and special comments from the teachers of Universidad del Rosario regarding the knowledge and skills of the team. We won a bonus and professional development courses for teachers of the school. Excellent participation of the school, our students left an excellent image of the institution.
