We collected 5000 tuna cans, 5000 food grains and 5000 eco-bottles to make Christmas 2020 a different kind of Christmas. Our solidarity campaign consisted of joining forces among students, teachers, parents and administrators to make a massive donation.
It was a great success and we were able to collect a monumental donation of food for the Food Bank and, through them, for many vulnerable families in Bogota and people affected in San Andres and Providencia.
In addition, the 5,000 eco-bottles, disposable bottles filled with plastic, will be treated in such a way that they do not pollute the planet and become raw material for the construction of walls, furniture or even houses.
However, the product of this union of forces is not only the donation, but also the lessons learned by our students, which we consider to be one of the most important added values of the campaign.
"Many people live in other realities and need help. This was a great learning opportunity to add the value of solidarity to our daily lives," says Camilo Restrepo, coordinator of the campaign, after delivering the donations.
Likewise, Federico Bettín, an eleventh grade student, affirms: "this experience has taught me to have social responsibility and to become aware of the issues that are impacting the world. It gives me immense joy to have achieved the goal".
